For candidates

Something in the report is wrong. This is how it gets fixed.

A finding is not a verdict and it is not final. When it is wrong it belongs corrected, and speaking up is not holding anything against you.

First, who to contact

Contact the employer who ran the verification. They are the controller of your data, they ordered the report and they decide. Candora is a processor, meaning a software supplier, and cannot rewrite a finding on its own. But when a finding came from a faulty rule, we want to know, so a second route leads to us as well.

  • The employer verifying you: decides about you and makes the correction

  • Candora: fixes the rule when the fault is in the rule

What to write

Short and factual is enough. A finding can be traced by the rule key printed next to it in the report, so quoting it makes the search faster.

  • Which finding you object to, ideally with the rule key from the report

  • Why you believe it is wrong, in a sentence or two

  • What backs it up, if you have anything; an objection can be filed without a document too

What happens next

This describes how the process runs on our side. The deadlines by which the controller, meaning the employer, has to answer you follow from the General Data Protection Regulation, not from any arrangement of ours.

An automated decision without a person does not exist in the product, not even as a pre-filled recommendation. Somebody at the employer always decides, and Candora does not advise them how.

What Candora cannot rewrite

An entry in a public register. Where the fault lies in what the companies register says about a company, or in what a social security statement contains, it gets corrected with whoever keeps that record. Candora can only write down that a claim and a source diverge, and that is all the report ever says.

This page describes the process in a Candora verification and the deadlines that follow from the General Data Protection Regulation. It is not legal advice. Nothing here narrows your rights against the controller.
