A permit expiry is a date. Someone has to be looking at it.
Payroll systems file the monthly reports. What they do not do is tell you that a residence permit expires in thirty days, or which documents a specific residence type requires you to keep on file.

Failing to register a foreign worker before they start carries a fine of up to CZK 3 million, in force since 1 October 2025.

The employer keeps the register of foreign workers, and keeps copies of residence documents for the length of the employment plus three years.

From 1 April 2026 a foreign worker is registered before the moment they start, at the earliest eight days ahead, through the single monthly employer report.
